AllMusic Review by

Recorded in Germany during what was either the Ozma or Bullhead tour, the Melvins' installment in the Your Choice Live series is decidedly on the sludgy side. Fans of the band's earlier output will rejoice at the track listing, which comprises tracks from Gluey Porch Treatments, Ozma, and Bullhead. Furthermore, the recording quality is excellent; perhaps not Fillmore East excellent, but for a punk club setting, this is primo. Oddly enough, though the band is generally championed for its early material, this album tends to flag because of the repetitiveness of those songs -- it's one churning, massively overplayed riff after another. At that time period, Buzzo seemed intent on playing a riff over and over until -- taffylike -- it bent in half, melted, or fell to the floor. However, nothing has changed with drummer Dale Crover's attack scheme -- on this disc, the drums are positively mammoth, resonant, and peculiar, what with Crover's employment of a variety of bells and noise-making implements. It's a good album, especially if the band's early material is your cup of sludgy, syrupy tea.
