Tokyo-based composer Takagi Masakatsu presents a wistful and heartfelt score for the Japanese animated feature Wolf Children. Known for both his visual art and diverse, experimental music, Masakatsu melds elegiac piano with guitars, mandolin, skittering percussion and subtle orchestration to director Mamoru Hosoda's award-winning children's film. The charming fairy tale follows Ame and Yuki, the two children of a human woman and a wolf-man. When their father disappears, their mother moves them out of the city to a pastoral home near a forest. The unique soundtrack rides a perfect wave of nostalgia, quirkiness, and fantasy, pairing wonderfully with the inventive story and breathtaking animation.
