AllMusic Review by

The entire output of the prolific Original Indiana Five is available on four CDs by Jazz Oracle and one from the Frog label, none of which duplicate each other. This particular disc has the band's final recordings and does not differ all that much from their earliest sides, at least until the final vocal-dominated selections. There are two numbers ("Stompin' Fool" and "Indiana Mud") that, although thought originally to be Indiana Five items, are most likely by a Sam Lanin group; they were issued as by the Dixie Daisies. Guest singer Bob Merwin is on four of the five last selections and is OK, but the high points are such instrumentals as "Brown Sugar," "Indiana Shuffle," "Struttin' Jerry," "My Melancholy Baby," "Rarin' to Go," and "Moten Stomp." Collectors of 1920s jazz will want all of the Original Indiana Five discs, which make available dozens of formerly very scarce performances.
