AllMusic Review by

Something of a stoner rock offshoot of Nashville punkers Be Your Own Pet, Turbo Fruits, like BYOP, released their self-titled debut album on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label. While tracks such as "Volcano," "Fight This," and "Run Around" contain plenty of youthful exuberance and danceable riffs, there's also a late-night, slow burn quality to many of these tracks that shows a heavy indulgence in, among other things, '60s and '70s classic rock grooves. Turbo Fruits are one of numerous bands from the early 2000s looking to put a hip spin on Hendrix, Cream, and Sabbath, but few do it with the same glee and pep as these kids. It really does sound as if Turbo Fruits are hearing some of their inspirations for the very first time, and they're all the better for it.
