Pedro Conga's fifth release for Musical Productions has even more surefire danceable salsa than the previous, more publicized Valio la Pena Esperar (1992). Longtime collaborator Axel Martinez did not provide any compositions for this effort (this was his final participation with the band). Newcomers Cesar Avilés and Luis Enrique (not to be confused with the Nicaraguan salsa singer) are adept with the usual romantic material; however, the band scores with "Mujer de la Calle," a swinging opus, with customary Conga swing. An interesting detail is that Pedro Conga managed to churn out albums with a frequency that was sadly uncommon for most traditional salsa bands by the mid-'90s; even better, this product is one that still delivers most generously.
