TOTALLY HITS 2002: MORE PLATINUM HITS will likely be an increasingly fun listen with each passing year. The title says it all; these are the songs that anyone listening to pop radio in the second year of the millennium heard, loved, heard a thousand more times, and eventually detested. In other words, regardless of artistic merit (or lack thereof), these tracks will evoke memories of old boyfriends, old cars and old clothes whether the listener likes it or not. There's a pretty wide range of styles here, from the Swedish neo-MC5isms of The Hives to the silky smooth R&B of Usher. Nevertheless, there isn't a weak track on the album. Between this disc and its predecessor (TOTALLY HITS 2002) one would be hard-pressed to assemble a more accurate pop radio time capsule.
