AllMusic Review by

This is a very fine documentation of Detroit punk, metal, and hardcore mainstays who played in every dingy bar and basement party throughout the early '90s. In the criminally overlooked category are Bog Blast -- who resemble a thicker, dual bass guitar version of Helmet's Strap It On era -- and Ricochet, who contribute their most memorable, bass-driven, stomp classic, "Struggle." With additional players such as Brick Yard, Smoke, Yard Boss, and the legendary Scruffy Tearaways, who provide proof of Detroit's fledging headbanging scene, Thick definitely lives up to its name while immortalizing a number of acts who would have been long forgotten.
