AllMusic Review by

Before leaving his previous home at Moonshine Records, DJ Dara was a fixture on that label and released a successful string of mix CDs for the company. Now he's joined the stable of Breakbeat Science and is picking up right where he left off with this fine new continuously mixed drum'n'bass collection. Its title is a reflection of current trends among drum'n'bass DJs, who have been gravitating toward darker, heavier textures and ominous minor keys; while the material DJ Dara has collected here is not exactly lightweight, it does avoid the cartoonish sense of foreboding that characterizes so much of the current output of his colleagues -- and unlike most drum'n'bass, this is music that you can actually imagine dancing to. Most of the names represented here will be familiar only to the dancehall cognoscenti, but whether or not you're familiar with their work you're liable to be caught up quickly in the subtly dubwise groove of Klute's "Glue Sniffer [Hive & Echo Remix]" and Futurebound & Jaquan's more straightforwardly rocking "Blind Cobbler's Thumb." "Heatwave," by Gridlok, brings a more frantic, jittery mood to the mix; M.I.S.T.'s bongo-driven "Outer Space" brings to mind an image of the Mission: Impossible cast with ADHD. And yes, that's a recommendation.
