AllMusic Review by

The third of four Standards CDs released by multi-instrumentalist Miles Donahue in 2003 features eight veteran standards performed by Donahue on alto, tenor, and fl├╝gelhorn. He is once again joined by a few different rhythm sections (with fine piano playing from Alain Mallet, Ben Cook, Bruce Barth, and Brad Hatfield) with Corinne Chase on vocals in place of the usual Robin McElhattan. As is true with all of the releases in the series, the standards are given harmonically sophisticated and modern voicings, the singer fares well on a couple numbers, and there are subtle surprises, such as ballads that are taken at faster paces than usual. Donahue plays quite well and sounds fairly distinctive on each of his horns. Recommended.
