Spanish pop band Souvenir made their American debut with this six-song EP, displaying a considerable talent for comforting yet coolly indifferent songcraft. Utilizing soft horns, minor chord changes, and breathy female vocals, Souvenir find their own unique mix of drum machines, clean guitar tones, and bossa nova elements in an inviting if slightly evasive sound. The contemplative acoustic guitar tones of "Dusty" and the steady driving "Au Bord Du Soleil" seem to be firmly rooted in the '60s Euro-pop tradition, swinging with equal parts seriousness and light-hearted reverence. Most impressive is a cover of Brain Wilson's "Girl Don't Tell Me," redone in French as "Ne Dis Pas."
