AllMusic Review by

This Italian saxophone ensemble has similarities to the Rova Saxophone Quartet, though where Rova's is avant-garde music, this group is dedicated to adapting a mixed repertoire in works ranging from Charles Simon Catel, Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin, Trent Kynaston, and even Weather Report. Highlights of this recording are the Scott Joplin and Jean Matitia pieces, which result in a polyphony of tonal color. Attested to the limited instrumental pallet, the group sound is collective voice, rich with detail and astounding virtuosity. It successfully mixes classical, folk, and progressive approaches into a unique and cohesive sound. The works are conducted by Alberto Domizi.
