It seems as if the city of Detroit and its Motown talent manufacturing assembly line continue to churn out talented artists, regardless of musical genre. One of the talented conglomerations coming from this assembly line is Derrick Starks & Today's Generation. The group's sophomore release for the Crystal Rose label features a highly energized, youthful feel that should keep anyone's spirit pumped to the limit. Keeping with that notion is the project's opening track, the beat-driven "He Will Do It." Clark Sisters member Twinkie Clark displays why she has long been one of gospel music's most revered and imitated vocalists through her performance on the track "Joy Unspeakable." Starks and his talented group of singers do a masterful job reworking the popular Dixie Hummingbirds song "Two Little Fish (Fishes)." One added bonus is the treatment they lend to the Commodores' classic "Jesus Is Love," adding a more "Sunday morning church"-oriented feel to the Lionel Richie-penned song.
