Making a sleazy effort to cash in on two trends at once, Ichiban Records mixes the wee bit of Lil Jon music they own reggaeton style, or at least Ichiban's idea of what reggaeton sounds like. The ultimate irony of this dismal EP is that Ichiban is based in Florida, where the amount of reggaeton on the radio, in the streets, and in the stores outweighs the amount in the other 49 states combined. Still, remixer 305 gives "Get Crunk" a glittery, synthesized salsa beat, and "Bounce Dat" and "Cut Up" each get a backing track that's a cheap imitation of the Swiss synth duo Yello. The rest of the EP gets closer to the reggaeton sound, but your grandmother could tell you this is a pale imitation of Puerto Rico's hottest export and an EP the uninvolved Lil Jon would not deem crunk.
