AllMusic Review by

Rebound's Reggae Dance Party, Vol. 1 may play a little fast and loose with the term "reggae" -- Blondie's "The Tide Is High" is a reggae song done pop, Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)" is a pop song pure and simple -- but it nevertheless is a very entertaining record that's perfect for a party, thanks to such songs as the Melodians' "Rivers of Babylon," Peter Tosh's "No Sympathy," Robert Palmer's "Pressure Drop," Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross," Ziggy Marley's "Tomorrow People," Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now," Third World's "96 in the Shade" and, on the CD (not the cassette), Bobby Bloom's "Montego Bay" and Black Uhuru's "Right Stuff."
