John Basile is an excellent Brazilian-flavored guitarist with a harmonically advanced style. He contributed two originals to this subtle and intriguing program, which also includes a few standards ("Beautiful Love," "I Loves You Porgy," and "Estate") and some obscurities. Basile's pleasing style holds its own with trumpeter Tom Harrell and a sextet that includes bassist George Mraz. This is a very nice, melodic post-bop set, although it will be difficult to locate.
