AllMusic Review by

This record, originally planned as a legitimate release, was recorded entirely "underground" in Keaggy's basement in Leawood, KS, on a four-track recorder with him alone on all instruments and only his wife joining in on occasional background vocals. Though not as well-produced as his other work, the freedom and musical integrity here are undeniable; he made this song because he really likes it and not to please a record company executive. The instrumentals really make the record. The chorus to "Ransom" has an incredibly catchy, scorching guitar line that will stick in your head for days on end. The emotive "Follow Me On" simply breathes with feelings of struggle and endurance. A couple of the songs really could not fit anywhere else, like "Deadline," which quite simply is about trying to meet a deadline; there is nothing salvational at all about this modern-day work song. A typical music snob might be put off by all the drum machine sounds, but for fans of Keaggy's songwriting and guitar playing, this is an amazing record. This release also spawned Keaggy's Private Collection series, though further installments were never commercially released.
