AllMusic Review by

U.K. indie rockers Pukkajet work out some amiable lo-fi melodic pop on Pop Cycle. Featuring the songwriting skills of Dave Stewart and Matthew Barwick, Pukkajet suffer somewhat from a total reliance on a drum machine, which seems an odd choice given that most of this stuff is guitar-based melodic garage pop. Nonetheless, tracks such as "Quiet Weekend" and "Green Green Leaves" have a slacker-anthem quality that brings to mind a mix of Teenage Fanclub and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Similarly, the heartfelt ballad "It Always Rains in Hatton" rises above the casio-piano production to convey a kind of rural melancholy that will stick with you longer than you might have expected.
