El Gran Combo's first release with Fonovisa Records (after their lengthy association with Combo Records) is quite serviceable, although it was quite ignored by the public and the media. "Amor de Playa" features accordion accompaniment in the arrangement; in all, the band's first foray with the Los Angeles-based label seems a valiant, if failed, stunt. Most of the album is oddly dispensable, to say the least.
