In spite of his many years in the tropical scene, along with his participation with Joe Quijano and Tommy Olivencia, Paquito Guzman has an affinity for boleros. This is his second LP dedicated to the romantic genres, this time with a trio setup (incidentally, Guzman's earliest musical involvement included his stint as a replacement principal vocalist in the Julito Rodriguez Trio). This long-awaited CD (available only on LP for many years) features Guzman at his romantic best, with tunes from composers like Alfredo Sadel, Pepito Lacomba, and Miguel Angel Amadeo. Highly recommended, this effort explores a side of Paquito Guzman that even overshadows his most commercial salsa ventures.
