AllMusic Review by

The Animals signed with Decca Records in late 1965, and Outcast + 3 was the first of two resulting EPs issued in France through the Barclay label. Opening with "Outcast," it showcases the bolder blues-rock sound of the group's second phase, with more virtuosity and generally higher wattage. The group originals were now as distinctive as their covers, and they were doing more with the latter -- Ray Charles's "That's All I Am to You" gets deconstructed on the break, and Eric Burdon runs away with it vocally in his own style.
