AllMusic Review by

Mercury/Polygram released a series of beautifully packaged biography/hit compilations (known as "CD Story") of some of French music's biggest stars from yesteryear, including Dalida, Brigitte Bardot,Barbara, and, in this case, Italian-born actor/crooner Yves Montand. Montand is a lavishly put-together collection, complete with a full-color, 36-page biography of the singer featuring a bevy of wonderful photographs and excellent and revealing liner notes (in French). The album, which is almost worth the price for the sheer quality of the booklet, contains 20 famous songs, including classics such as "A Bicyclette," the lullaby-ish "Trois Petites Notes de Musique," and the exquisite "Je Cherche Après Titine." Also included is the sublime studio version of "Les Feuilles Mortes," which on other collections is often included as a live track. By no means complete, this collection provides a fine introduction to this beloved, velvet-voiced crooner.
