AllMusic Review by

On Stop the Sun, I Want to Go Home, the album immediately preceding Milky Juicy, Tiny Lights slipped fully into a wanky bar-funk style that couldn't compare to the vivaciously orchestrated folk/pop of their early days -- but while Stop the Sun... has enough slanted constructions and interesting twists to keep this decline from being too noticeable, Milky Juicy drops most of the band's intellectual and deconstructive leanings and winds up sounding far too much like a semi-interesting bar act. "Ashtray," which opens and closes the album, is a surprisingly dull piece of funk, and not much on Milky Juicy redeems it; the quirkiness of Tiny Lights' sound is still present enough to appeal to the band's immediate fans, but the release sounds sadly insipid when compared to their excellent early work.
