On his debut, Danish saxophonist Michael Lington shows that he’s ready to give smooth jazz biggies Dave Koz and Boney James a run for the money. Lington plays with a plush, reedy tone, with subtle R&B influences. In fact, he used to play in the bands of soul jazz stalwarts Randy Crawford and Bobby Caldwell, the latter making a guest appearance on “Tell It Like It Is.” Smooth and lighthearted, Lington proves himself a contender on the Quiet Storm front his first time out.
