AllMusic Review by

This best-of features the hell-raising country singer Johnny Paycheck performing many of the songs that made him famous, including his 1971 comeback hit, "Don't Take Her, She's All I Got," his own version of the song he wrote for Tammy Wynette, "Apartment No. 9," and of course his biggest hit, David Allen Coe's "Take This Job and Shove It." Paycheck's feisty delivery is still a joy to hear, while his stylistic debt to George Jones is apparent on cuts like his original version of "Close All the Honky Tonks," later recorded by the Flying Burrito Brothers, and the goofy novelty number "Don't Monkey with Another Monkey's Monkey."
