AllMusic Review by

With his considerable guitar skills (not to mention his talents on banjo and seemingly any other instrument he touched), his rich, comfortable-sounding baritone voice, and his affable and at times wry and self-effacing manner, Doc Watson was a true American musical treasure, and nothing he ever recorded, nor any stage he ever stepped on, for that matter, diminished that. This set combines two of his late-'70s albums with his son Merle Watson (a pretty good guitar picker in his own right), 1978's Look Away! and the concert performance (recorded at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco) Live & Pickin', in a single package. This is Doc Watson, so everything here is top-notch, but among the highlights are versions of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," Kokomo Arnold's "Milk Cow Blues," and Roy Acuff's "Streamline Cannonball."
