“Not No More,” the lead single from Montel Jordan’s seventh album, LET IT RAIN, plays to the R&B singer’s strengths. A sleek, sexy, and seductive ballad that recalls the string-sweetened days of Philly Soul, the tune showcases Jordan’s flexible loverman croon to excellent effect. The rest of LET IT RAIN follows suit. From the insistent thump of the title track opener to the swirling ballad “Stay With Me,” Jordan (with help from co-writer James Jones Jr.) turns in an album of sophisticated, confident contemporary R&B as strong as anything in his catalogue.
