This four-CD box was originally issued in a very limited edition from the Univive label in 2006 and sold out quickly; Phoenix Records reissued the set in 2011. It presents the mysterious Japanese psych rock warriors Les Rallizes Dénudés at three live gigs spanning 1974-1977, and includes a bonus disc of more live material from a 1980 gig. Les Rallizes Dénudés were formed in 1967, and though they played together regularly until 1996, had only one official release (Oz Days Live, a double vinyl compilation issued in 1973). The sound is, like most of their offerings, solid bootleg quality. Most of this consists of unmixed board tapes simply presented in an "as it happened" way -- this is especially true on the later sides when the tracks can cut off, but who cares? This is freakout experimental garage rock at its very best; that said, even for connoisseurs of psych and garage, the mighty Les Rallizes Dénudés packed a mighty wallop -- no matter the sound quality -- as this set attests.
