AllMusic Review by

I Love Rock & Roll: Hits of the '60s is an excellent mid-line collection that contains 20 hits. Although the packaging is a little skimpy, all of the recordings are the original hit versions, which makes the compilation an excellent choice for casual listeners and the budget-minded. Among the highlights on Hits of the '60s are the Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night," Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love," the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City," the Byrds' "Turn! Turn! Turn!," the Zombies' "Time of the Season," Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild," Gary Puckett & the Union Gap's "Young Girl," the Kingsmen's "Louie, Louie," Fontella Bass' "Rescue Me," the Vogues' "Five O'Clock World" and BJ Thomas' "Hooked on a Feeling."
