AllMusic Review by

Although the title makes Hot Rod Holiday sound like a cheap collection, the disc is a first-rate collection of several rock & roll Christmas and holiday songs from the '50s and early '60s. There are perennials like Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run," and Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" and the Beach Boys' "Little Saint Nick," and a wealth of lesser-known versions of famous carols from such stars as Dion, Fats Domino, the Ventures, Bobby Vee and Gary U.S. Bonds. It may not be comprehensive -- there are several rock & roll Christmas classics that could have been included -- but it's a good, solid collection of some of the best pop-rock holiday tunes of the era.
