AllMusic Review by

This three-disc set (at 30 total tracks, it could easily have been issued as a two-disc package, or with minimal editing, a single disc) doesn't come close to living up to its title, since it's difficult to imagine anything called Greatest Summer Beach Hits that doesn't have a single cut by the Beach Boys, for instance, and songs like Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction" hardly conjure up thoughts of the beach (or summer, for that matter). That said, there are some great tracks here, including some relatively rare ones, like the Tams' wise and marvelous "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" and the Surfaris' goofy and infectious "Surfer Joe."
