With only two proper studio albums to their credit, the New York Dolls have had an influence vastly disproportionate to their output. Punk cognoscenti may argue forever about what the world would have looked like if not for the Dolls' own brand of gritty glam, but fans of the band just want more music.
This three-disc collection features tracks from seven live performances, moving chronologically from shows in Paris and Detroit in 1973 to a performance in Sweden in 1984. Also included are tracks from the famous 1975 Soviet red-leather concerts in New York, a radio broadcast from 1974, and shows in Vancouver and Dallas from '74 as well. The Vancouver show is a standout, and features crisp sound and rocking performances of "Mystery Girls," "Jet Boy," and "Human Being," among others.
