AllMusic Review by

Ellen's I'm Gonna Make You Dance Jams features a fairly broad assortment of upbeat, danceable music. It ranges as far back as 1971 for Aretha Franklin's strutting "Rock Steady" and is as current as 2012 with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' number one pop hit "Thrift Shop." It's a little surprising that there's only one selection from the '80s -- Black Box's "Everybody Everybody" -- and that it comes from the end of the decade, but there's still some variety from the likes of No Doubt ("Hella Good"), Rose Royce ("Car Wash"), and the Jackson 5 ("Dancing Machine)." None of this is obscure, so it's geared toward Ellen fans who buy only a handful of music releases a year.
