A discount compilation of Andean music, primarily featuring the harps and flutes that denote the region's sound so well. There are but three bands featured, taking care of all of the songs: Los Craneos, the Juan Campolargo Ensemble, and Los Indios Paraguayos. It would seem that all of the major Andean standards are present: El Condor Pasa, Suky, etc; although Farewell to Ayacucho Town is surprisingly absent (something of a rarity for Andean compilations). The bands do well. None are necessarily virtuosos, but at the same time they aren't amateurs by any measure either. As such, it does decently as a discount compilation, though there are countless other Andean compilations that could outdo it (for a higher price, of course). Multicultural Media's entry in the Andean race provides a more authentic choice for those with an ethnomusicological bent. Others provide a simple look at the basic standards by the better known (and higher paid) performers. Pick it up as your standard, average discount compilation, but go for a better quality disc for a better taste of the region's music.
