Egg Fusion finds Retsin's voice as a sort of singer/songwriter acoustic duo for experimentalists. The album carefully avoids the most typically emotive two-girl-with-acoustic-guitars sounds in favor of an odd lo-fi tone that even manages to drop into the occasional drone ("Hottie Titmouse"). This approach to sound tends to make up for the flaws in the duo's songwriting. While their later releases have a polished loveliness that Egg Fusion doesn't really attempt, the album sports enough unusual constructions to remain interesting and worthwhile.
