AllMusic Review by

Because this album was ostensibly recorded as a "Dixieland dinner dance," there are more ballads and dance music than usual on the LP by cornetist Red Nichols and his Five Pennies. With bass saxophonist Joe Rushton most prominent among the supporting cast of the sextet, such tunes as "Johnson Rag," "Satan Takes a Holiday" and "American Patrol" are among the highpoints along with a couple of tasteful medleys. Nice music but this set will be difficult to find.
