AllMusic Review by

On Dig This Dig That, Bobby Hecksher and the rest of the Magic Pacer collective throw together an intensely romp through the world of vintage synths and roboticly jerky new wave rock -- there's a strong and general debt owed to Devo, but individual tracks pile Moogs and Casios over steadily humming rock, arranged keys and samples into synthetic pop songs like Gary Numan's ("Trains," whose title is probably already an implicit reference), or find a strange new twist on old-school psychedelic rock ("Electric Games"). What keep all of this from turning into an exercise in quirky nostalgia are a keen sense of pop songwriting and a contemporary approach to electronics -- skills of Hecksher's that make Dig This Dig That a record that succeeds well beyond its concept.
