Morello's 2012 two-fer combines Crystal Gayle's two 1975 albums: her eponymous debut and its successor, Somebody Loves You. These are Gayle at her early peak, perhaps not in terms of commercial success -- a couple years later she would have her defining hit, "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," kicking off a strong series of soft country chart-toppers -- but these are her most varied albums in pure musical terms, finding Gayle singing something approaching pure country, dabbling in soul, spending a lot of time singing sweet country-pop, and wrapping it all in her soft pop. Hits collections will provide more of her best-known songs, but this two-fer provides a greater testament to her talent.
