Not listed in jazz discographies, this obscure LP from pianist Reinhold Svensson finds him heading a top-notch group probably consisting of clarinetist Putte Wickman, vibraphonist Bo Kallstrom, guitarist Rolf Berg, bassist Gunnar Almstedt, and drummer Anders Burman, his usual band of the period. The budget packaging gives neither the personnel nor the recording date (the one listed above is a good guess). The music, however, is excellent, four swing and bop standards (including "Taking a Chance On Love" and "A Night In Tunisia") and four basic originals that are mostly based on better-known songs. If one runs across this set in a used record store, it is worth taking a chance on; Wickman in particular is in fine form.
