If you already own the 2006 Thin Lizzy comp Colour Collection then there's no reason to purchase 1999's Classic Thin Lizzy: The Universal Master Collection, as it contains the same exact track listing -- the only thing that's different is the album cover. Still intrigued? OK then, let's dig a bit deeper. Highlights from Thin Lizzy's early-'70s era have been compiled countless times over the years -- to the point of utter ridiculousness -- and this 18-track set contains the same old songs, repackaged for the umpteenth time. While there are a few certified Thin Lizzy classics here -- especially "Whiskey in the Jar" and "The Rocker" -- no tracks from the group's Scott Gorham era are included, which just happens to be the true "Classic Thin Lizzy". If you don't already own one of the countless comps of early Lizzy, then Classic Thin Lizzy: The Universal Master Collection will do -- despite its misleading title.
