Released by Spectrum Music, a wing of Universal U.K., Classic has the appearance of a handy compilation. The track list, containing 18 titles, is fairly lengthy, but it's missing too many of Donna Summer's biggest hits -- such as "Hot Stuff," "The Wanderer," "Last Dance," and "MacArthur Park," to name only four -- to be recommendable. "I Feel Love" and "Love to Love You Baby," two of Summer's classic epics, appear as inferior three-minute single edits, but that allows enough room for 16 other tracks, including "On the Radio," "Winter Melody," "She Works Hard for the Money," and "Could It Be Magic." The 1995 compilation Endless Summer is a far better one-disc summary of a singer whose career highlights are suited more for an anthology of twice the size.
