AllMusic Review by

Billboard Hot R&B Hits 1983 gathers a funky and eclectic collection of the year's most popular R&B hits, including George Clinton's "Atomic Dog," the Gap Band's "Outstanding," Rufus' "Ain't Nobody," and Donna Summer's "She Works Hard for the Money." Aretha Franklin's "Get It Right," Mtume's "Juicy Fruit," and Gladys Knight & the Pips' "Save the Overtime (For Me)" are some of the album's other standout tracks. Songs by Klique and Evelyn King are also worthwhile, reaffirming that 1983 was one of the '80s' best years for R&B singles.
