The late Cheikh Salah led one of the finest modern orchestras, playing North African classical music based on forms brought by refugees from the great music school of Cordoba at the collapse of Muslim Spain. This is pure and authentic style, superbly sung and backed by a small ensemble of local instruments. Dismal notes, short measure for a steep price, but the superb music more than compensates.
