Released on CD as part of DA Music's Story of the Blues series, this CD features Bumble Bee Slim (aka Amos Easton), one of the more popular blues vocalists of the 1930s. This is an excellent overview of his early work. With the assistance of pianists Jimmy Gordon, Myrtle Jackson and Black Bob, guitarist Big Bill Broonzy and many unknown musicians, Slim (who also plays guitar on the solo "No Woman No Nickel") dispalys a likable delivery and an easy-to-understand enunciation on the set of vintage acoustic Chicago blues. A fine sampling.
